The Story, in a nutshell: A young secretary robs one of her clients and makes a run for it. She is caught in a rainstorm and decides to stay the night at the Bates Motel, which leads to her death and a question of who murdered her.
Reason it’s awesome: Remember what I mentioned earlier this week about the Motion Picture Code? Psycho was made when the code was starting to lose it’s influence, so the level of sexuality and violence in this was incredibly shocking. The “shower scene” is one of the most iconic moments in film, and the soundtrack by composer Bernard Herrmann is brilliant.
